Iain Potter

Iain qualified as a certified accountant in 1983 following which he spent three years working in the Middle East as financial controller in a hospital where he managed an annual budget of £200m. He returned to the UK in 1986 and has since been involved in several companies spending the last twenty years as a finance director.

Before joining Vincere in 2008, Iain worked for a number of manufacturing and distribution companies with turnover up to £110m. The majority of his experience has been gained in the small to medium sector working with entrepreneurial owners or venture capitalists to optimise financial management and profitability. Iain has been involved with a number of private equity backed companies and was influential in the successful trade sale of two of these.

He has extensive systems experience having successfully project managed the implementation of two ERP systems on time and on budget. Iain has also designed, developed and implemented a number of shop floor data collection systems which have proved extremely beneficial to the companies who have used them. He also works with businesses to optimise improvements in the measurement of project / customer profitability in situations where major system investments are not possible.

Iain first worked with John and Tony in 2004 following his recruitment as finance director to improve financial management in an under performing company where he assisted with the successful restructuring of the business followed by sale. He joined Vincere to undertake hands-on portfolio and interim finance director roles as well as cash management assignments.

Iain is married with three girls and his main interest is golf where he maintains a good standard of play with a handicap of 5. Iain also enjoys running and after completing the Great North Run in 2003 and 2004, he completed the London Marathon in 2006.
