John Dewhirst

John Dewhirst is a chartered accountant (Fellow of the ICAEW) with an MBA (awarded with distinction at Bradford School of Management) and also qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. His first degree is from Oxford University. Additionally he is a full member of the Society of Turnaround Professionals.

John gained audit and corporate recovery experience with two 'Big Four' firms before leaving the profession in 1989. During the next eleven years he worked in three different organisations across a range of sectors including financial services, marketing consultancy and manufacturing. He held the position of financial director in each and has a total of nine years' experience as a finance director. For three years until launching Vincere in 2003 he was a member of KPMG's corporate restructuring team and worked on assignments in the UK, western Europe and USA.

John is married and has four children. His interests include support of Bradford City (he was co-founder of the club’s fanzine in 1985 and has written a couple of books on the history of his beloved Bantams, available from Amazon (click here to view) ), railway modelling and cycling.

He is also interested in the history of the Cold War and in 2005 fulfilled a long held objective of visiting North Korea. (click here to view)

He was awarded a Blue for representing Oxford University at cycle racing and he also holds a number of the time trialling records of the East Bradford Cycling Club. In 2008 he finished 31st in the 2008 British Best All-Rounder time-trialling competition.

In 2007 he participated in the Etape du Tour in France (a 125mile road event over a stage of the Tour de France in the Pyrenees) and raised £5,200 for UK Cancer Research and the University of Bradford Burns Unit.
