qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999 and subsequently worked in KPMG’s Restructuring department in the north of England where he was a colleague of John Dewhirst and Tony Lumb, advising a wide variety of financial institutions and companies operating in the middle market.
During his time at KPMG, Simon led a number of assignments including contingency planning, cash flow management, cost reduction and building and reviewing financial forecasts / business plans. In 2001 he qualified as an insolvency practitioner and has an extensive understanding of the impact of insolvencies on secured lenders and other key stakeholders. Simon is a full member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals but is not currently licensed to take insolvency appointments and does not intend to do so.
During 2006, Simon spent a year on secondment to the Business Support unit of Barclays Bank in Leeds. During this time he was involved in developing bank strategy and case management in respect of under-performing companies with both leveraged and secured debt in excess of £3m. Simon joined Vincere in 2008.
Simon has wide ranging sector experience including manufacturing, retail and consumer products and owner managed businesses.
Through his activity in the restructuring and turnaround arena it became clear to him that there was a gap in the market to respond to stakeholders needs, with the provision of 'big firm' best practice methodologies in a more responsive and cost effective manner.
Outside of work, Simon is married and has a daughter. His spare time is spent walking, clay pigeon shooting, in the gym or out riding his motorbike.
